CHIT--SHUDI SADHANA........... TRATAK (STEADY GAZING )

TRATAK OR STEADY GAZING............. It is important kirya in chit shudi sadhana.It is a steady gazing at a point or object without winking. when the eyes are open, there should be no winking at all, and when they are closed the pupil of the eye should be steady. In reality it is simple method by which a person can increase his or her concentration of mind, and mental stability.By gazing constantly at one object a person become stable in thoughts and actions. Tratak becomes SHAMBHAVI MUDRA, when the sadhak is supposed to fix his gaze at the space between the two eye-brows. There can be any object.... it may be flame of candle (JYOTI), AN IDOL OF A DIETY, face in the mirror, a flower, sunrise, moon rise, a star, a natural scene, etc... which you feel good.
TECHNIQUE OF TRATAK......Sit in any pose which you feel better, keep the neck and spine erect , rest the hands on the knees. keep the object on reasonable height in front of eyes at distance of about 3 ft.
1st stage....Gaze at the flame without winking for sometime, then close the eyes gently, open the eyes again and gaze at the flame for a longer time, close the eyes again for some time, Do this practise for one week steadily increasing the time.
2nd stage....Gaze at the flame without winking as long as the eyes are not filled with water, close the eyes gently, open the eyes gaze at the flame again as before, Do this for a week for 15 to 20 minutes.
3rd stage.....Gazing at the flame continuously in the same way and visualising the flame mentally with closed eyes, maintained the stability of mind. Concentrate it with the mind eyes open. Close the eyes and stay in this position as long as you can.After some time the external form of flame will disappear and the flame will glow from insight. NOW DO PRACTISE THIS DAILY FOR FEW MINUTES, VISUALISE THE FLAME MENTALLY AND DO NOT LEAVE THE PRACTICE TILL PERFECTION. At the end end open the eyes and wash the eyes with cold water.
Benefits......(!)..it remove the distraction of mind.
(2)..it develop the will power and increases the concentration of mind.
(3)...it sharpens our brain. and above all it improves the eyesight and helps to attain
DIVIAY DRISHITI. Beside this the third eye is awaken.
